Consultation on Homeopathic Medicine - Urgent

RE consultation on banning homeopathic medicines - URGENT - deadline 21 October

Your Help is needed as a matter of urgency

In total, the NHS England budget is £101.3 billion with a total prescribing budget of £9.2 billion.

NHS England is seeking to ban a range of prescription items, aiming to save some £141 million pounds.

This would include banning homeopathic and herbal medicines, and a lot of the (anthroposophic) remedies prescribed by your doctors at Helios are classed as homeopathic or herbal. Cutting homeopathic and herbal remedies is presented as the core of this plan although combined with herbals it only represents less than 0.14% of that £141 million.

This ignores available evidence for instance on cost effectiveness, and ignores what patients want. To find out more please read.

The consultation paper

https://www.engage.england.nhs.uk/consultation/items-routinely-prescribed/supporting_documents/consultationitemsnotroutinelyprescribedinprimarycare.pdf is 48 pages long, but if you don’t want to go through all the other issues of the survey, you can concentrate on expressing your views on withdrawing homeopathic medicines from the NHS.

If you feel homeopathic and herbal remedies have helped you or enable you to avoid for instance antibiotics, say so, if you feel they should remain available on the NHS as a patient choice, say so.
